Of the event, Donna Steedon, Support Services Manager said; We had an absolutely fantastic evening. Quantum Care is a not for profit organisation offering residential and other care services to older people in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex.

It looks after a large number of residents with dementia and other health issues that make it difficult for them to enjoy a meal out with family or friends.

The Quantum Care Dining Club aims to create a special occasion experience within the homes, providing a restaurant service, good atmosphere and meals in a safe and familiar environment, where carers are on hand to assist if needed.

A pilot event promoted one family to say: That was the best experience I have had with my father since he was diagnosed with dementia”

Tables are dressed with candles and special decorations, whilst background music generates a calm ambience. Guests are welcomed by a maître d’ and treated to a full waiting service. The menu consists of a three-course meal with choices available for each course. All the menus offer home-produced food with as many seasonal dishes as possible. Soft drinks are provide but guests are encouraged to bring in their favourite tipple to accompany the meal.

All catering is provided by the Quantum support services department with assistance from the homes catering team. Quantum’s current plan is to extend the dining club events to include a Sunday lunchtime roast meal that will also be offered to older people in the local community who may be isolated either through ill health or due to other circumstances.
